My high school track and field journey.

Welcome to my track and field page where I can talk about my life.I was born and raised in Rochester,NY. I attended Aquinas Institute Of Rochester high school.I started running track my junior year in high school. I started off very bad. I wasn't one of those runners who came out of know where. I slowly progressed and over time I became better. I didn't believe in myself when I first started running and I thought it was a waste of time.My first indoor season of track was a learning experience. I focused on the 300m which I didn't like but was average at it. I met the standard to run at state qual's. To make a long story short I didn't go to states because I was disqualified for stepping on the line even though I won by a lot. My coach tried to protest it the but nothing worked and I wasn't able to go to states. During my 2008 outdoor season I shocked a lot of people including myself. I was ranked number one in div1 schools(100m,200m) I made it to states for both events. I placed second in states in the 200m and the 100m we won't talk about that! Now on to my senior year indoor track. This was the best indoor season I could have asked for. I broke meet records in the 300m.I also was able to help my team make it to states for the 4x400 relay. I placed second in the 300m 34.99 and second in the long jump at States. A week later I placed 6th in the 200m at the 2009 Nike Indoor Nationals. I made Co Athlete Of The Year. Coming off this great indoor season I knew my outdoor season would be a good one turned out it wasn't. My first track meet I ran a 21.7,10.7,23-8 in long jump. The next track meet was the Hilton Invitational where I was going to try and break the long jump sectionv record. I didn't warm up that good I was just so anxious to jump. On my first attempt I put my all into the jump and pulled my hamstring. This was a learning lesson because I ended up pulling my hamstring three times that season trying to come back instead of being patient. I was not healthy enough to compete at state q's and didn't go to states my senior year of outdoor. That was probably the worst track season I had by far.I thank Coach Cook,Coach Dixon,Coach Walker for believing in me. College Bio(coming soon)

Runners' High It's no longer sport, No longer just a game. It has become a way of life. Every breath is a stride, Every heartbeat a string of silence. It is a compulsion from deep within. It is a passion for glory. To go through the torment. To last through the waiting. To gain that one moment, Alone with myself. And only the few, Who chance to strive, Can know the experience. To hear nothing but breath. To feel nothing but heartbeat. To feel so much like hell, Running so close to heaven. This is the Runners' High. This is the feeling I live for. This is the goal I strive toward. If my chance disappears, Part of my life would end.

My favorite runner of all time.

You ever had that one person who inspires you the most? No matter what people say about that person you got their back! You watch that person every time they come on tv.
“Really great people make you feel that you, too, can become great.”
Walter Dix is my favorite track and field runner. I look up to him. He has battled so many hamstring injuries and no matter what he keep fighting. Walter won bronze at the 2008 Olympics in the 100m and 200m. I believe if Walter stays healthy he can break the American 200m record.

BJ Murray in high school(300m 35.16 f.a.t) at SectionV State Qual. First place.

This is a video of SectionV State Quals. I remember when I used to hate running the 300m. I used to hate it when my coach entered me in that race. He always told me I would be good at it and I will thank him later for having me run it so much. Never thought I see the day I run 34.99 in the 300m. Regardless of how long ago this race was I will never forget how I overcame my fear of running this race. In the race below I ran a time of 35.16 and the next week I ran a time of 34.99 and placed second in states. Memories. The number one thing you have to do in track is believe in yourself and you will accomplish a lot!!

BJ Murray 2010 holiday classic 55m/200/4x200 relay

This is my appearance at the Holiday Classic(2010). Nothing really special just went out there and ran. I did my thing though. Thanking the Lord for watching over me and keeping me safe from injuries.

IAMSPORT 2009 Nike Indoor Nationals Boys 200 final 1(senior yr of high school)

I'm in lane four in this race below. This is the biggest race in my opinion of my high school track and field career. Came into nationals ranked 23th. Top 8 go to finals. I didn't know how I was going to make it back to finals. Right before I ran prelims I told myself I was going to have to believe that I can make finals. During prelims I was racing against time and had to make sure I secured my final spot. I did just that and was proud of myself. I remember after that race my coach told me I was running against the US fastest high school 200m runner the next day. I wasn't nervous at all because I already knew what type of runner i was. I was never scared to race anybody in the 200m. During the 200m final to make a long story short he did beat the whole field by a lot but I finished six in the 200m at the nike indoor nationals. I was so proud to have become an All American. Nobody can ever take that from me. Memories.
